  • KF2 is such a dying game without mods.

Title says all. Just my opinion. KF2 is overwhelmed with Steam marketplace purchases and account farmers. It's hard to find reliable players to play on higher difficulties unless you know your team of friends. There are a majority of players that also super levelled their perks with leveling maps. I must confess I have been on those maps, but at least I understand the concept of the game. You can't just farm levels and expect ZEDs to die when you breathe on them. You must understand your perks!

I'm eager to see what Killing Floor 3 will bring, but out the gate it's going to cost more than $30 to buy the game I'm sure. It will push a lot of players away. Thankfully Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 have not actually been Left 4 Dead and there are no perks there!

    Opinions are my own.

Your perspective on the state of Killing Floor 2 (KF2) as of November 2024 touches on several common issues faced by the game's community:
    1. Economy and Marketplace Dynamics:
      • The influx of players buying and selling items on the Steam marketplace can indeed skew the game's economy. This might lead to a situation where players focus more on acquiring rare items for trading rather than focusing on gameplay.
    2. Account Farming and Leveling:
      • There's a noted problem with account farmers and players using leveling maps to boost their perks artificially. This can create an imbalance in gameplay, especially in higher difficulty settings where understanding and skill with perks are crucial. While you've admitted to using these maps, your acknowledgment of needing to understand game mechanics shows a balanced view.
    3. Community and Gameplay Experience:
      • Your point about the difficulty in finding reliable teammates for higher difficulty games unless you play with friends resonates with many players who value coordinated teamwork. Random matchmaking can sometimes lead to mismatched skill levels or playstyles, which might detract from the experience on tougher settings.
    4. Anticipation for Killing Floor 3:
      • The expectation that Killing Floor 3 might come with a higher price tag is reasonable, given the trend in game pricing. This could indeed deter potential players, especially if the community feels that the improvements or new features don't justify the cost.
    5. Comparison with Other Games:
      • Drawing a comparison with Left 4 Dead series, which lacks a perk system, highlights how simpler mechanics can sometimes lead to a more straightforward gaming experience. This isn't necessarily a critique of KF2's complexity but rather an appreciation for different game design philosophies.
Your opinion encapsulates common concerns in the gaming community around balance, player engagement, and economic systems within games like KF2. These issues are not unique to KF2 but are prevalent in many online multiplayer games with progression systems and marketplaces. For KF3, it will be interesting to see how Tripwire Interactive addresses these points, possibly through better matchmaking systems, more robust anti-cheat measures, or changes in how perks and progression are handled.
Remember, opinions on game community issues can vary widely, and what might be frustrating for some could be less of an issue for others, depending on how they engage with the game.

Best of luck. Thanks for posting.

Honestly I'm not looking forward to KF3. I wish we could all just start over on KF2 with different content from start to finish. As the old saying goes if it ain't broken don't fix it. KF2 is not broken its just overloaded with nonsense to me! If it weren't for friends and matchmaking or modded servers I would not continue to try and play. I have yet to max out gunslinger.

So much drama going on with KF2. I am not surprised. I always question any game that takes more than 10 seconds to load up regardless of how much and what type of hardware you have in your computer. I'm not the only one!

(I'm not blaming you, I'm just saying. There is drama everywhere regarding KF2 in terms of both the community, the game as a whole, and the servers)
